On December 28, 2023, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) launched a recruitment drive for Sub Inspector (SI) and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) vacancies. This recruiting effort plans to fill 921 positions across many cadres.

The application time for the UP Police SI was scheduled from January 7, 2024 to January 31, 2024. The examination is likely to take place in the month that comes. Candidates would require the UP Police SI Admit Card for entrance into their examination hall.

UP Police SI (Sub-Inspector) Selection Procedure

Written Examination – The initial assessment of applicants’ knowledge and understanding of numerous disciplines. This is a qualifying assessment, and candidates must score higher than the cut-off mark to advance to the next step of the selection process.

Document Verification – Candidates who pass the test must go through document verification. During this step, applicants must produce original papers such as educational certificates, identification evidence, domicile certificates, and any other documents specified in the announcement.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT) – After passing the written test, applicants are invited to the Physical Measurement Test. This stage analyzes applicants’ physical parameters, such as height, chest (for men), and weight, in accordance with the UPPRPB guidelines.

For occupations such as ASI (Clerk), a skill test may be administered to assess candidates’ typing or stenography skills.

Medical Examination – The final part of the selection process is a comprehensive medical examination to confirm that the applicants are medically fit to execute the duties of a police officer.

The written test is scheduled for March, although the board (UPPRPB) has yet to release the specific dates. Candidates are requested to monitor the official UPPRPB website for updates on a regular basis and prepare for the written examination in the meanwhile.
